“Every cloud has a silver lining,” a famous idiom that someone has given us in times of sorrow in our lifetime, or we gave to someone to lift their spirit. You can call it a cliche, but is it really? Humans are born to adapt. So making the best out of our situation is second nature to us. That is why amidst the global pandemic people have found ways to survive or to simply stay sane.

Let’s talk about one of the silver linings that you might not realize you have to be grateful for during this horrible situation we are in… We are finally getting the best out of the money we spend monthly on our internet subscription. Yes, it might be insignificant and maybe not worth mentioning, but think about it!
If you’re frugal, spending money on the internet is something that you have to do, and bet you want to take advantage of as much as possible. Because of the pandemic, you are doing just that! We are stuck at home, so we can’t go to the office, we can’t go to our campus and study. We are demanded to be couch potatoes to stay safe, and because of that, what are we doing to spend the time?
- Scrolling through multiple social media platforms
- Working and/or studying from home
- Streaming songs 24/7
- Downloading games in our PC and/or gaming counsel
- Explore the various selection of films and series that is there to watch on Netflix
Have you ever been that active on the internet before the pandemic? i don’t think so! And if you do, good for you, you have been doing something that we all should have done. Visionaries!
We spend at least RM 80 monthly on our internet subscription (If you choose one of TM Unifi Coverage), and sometimes even more and we don’t use it as much as we can. It is the same as when we go to all-you-can-eat restaurants, you paid for somewhere around RM40 – 50, and with all your might you eat as much as you can so you got your bang for your buck! So if you look at it this way, the world did you a favor you didn’t know you needed. Not to mention because you are stuck at home, you don’t have to spend money on Grab, or any mode of transportation. You are not adding more pollution to the already polluted world. You can also spend more time journaling and getting to know yourself and even maybe exploring your inner chef and making new recipes that you can easily find where? Yes! You guessed it! The internet! See, it all falls in your favor. Yes, it is sad that so many people suffered and lost their lives due to the covid 19 virus. But for us who are fortunate enough, we should be thankful that we are still alive with all the perks that come with being alive. That is the most important silver lining that we have to see.
